Alter Trinkwasserbrunnen
Engerser Straße 12, 56564 Neuwied
Langendorf was a hamlet that developed as a street village on the flood-free land ridge along today's Kirchstraße. After the Thirty Years' War, which had taken its toll on Langendorf, Count Friedrich III zu Wied bought the Langendorf estate and built the forerunner of today's Neuwied Castle there. In 1649, the first house for a count's official was built in the small village. The name Neuwied probably originated as a place name at this time and replaced the old name Langendorf.
In 2005, a particularly well-preserved well 7.50 metres deep was uncovered during construction work in the area of the Langendor settlement. closed.
