Aussichtspunkt Prinzenstein
56329 St. Goar
The Prinzenstein, the rock on the Rhine below St. Goar, has an eventful history. Grube Gute Hoffnung is the name of two lead-zinc ore mines in Rhineland-Palatinate on the Middle Rhine, located on the left bank of the Rhine between St.Goar-Fellen and -Werlau, on the right bank between St.Goarshausen-Wellmich and -Ehrenthal. They mined the deposits of the so-called Werlau-Wellmicher Gangzug, which runs for more than 20 km in length and 2 km in width from the Hunsrück to the Taunus, crossing the Rhine. We recommend a hike that takes you over the Werlauer Höhe through the vineyards and past the Werlauer mine.
