Our family-run restaurant ‘Das kleine Wirtshaus’ is romantically located in the Middle Rhine Valley, at the foot of the castles ‘Die feindlichen Brüder’ and in the immediate vicinity of the famous Bornhofen pilgrimage monastery. 50 guests can be comfortably seated in the historic restaurant, which was partly built directly into the rock and thus provides an insight into 400 million years of history of the Middle Rhine Valley in the interior, in a loving and modern ambience. A sun terrace, which thanks to its partial roofing not only invites you to linger in the sunshine, offers another 60 guests the opportunity to enjoy a delicious meal. The small inn stands for creative, varied and versatile cuisine with modern interpretations of regional dishes without losing its grounding and sense of home. A seasonally changing menu and seasonal kitchen events as well as the cooperation with regional suppliers emphasise this company philosophy, and we will be happy to advise you on the choice of food and the appropriate wine from our wine cellar in a courteous but not intrusive manner. A freshly tapped beer, a non-alcoholic refreshing drink or a ‘Rheinsteigwasser’ are of course not to be missed, and the eventful landscape in the heart of the Upper Middle Rhine Valley World Heritage Site offers you adventure and relaxation at the same time. After a hike along the well-developed hiking trails, you can fortify yourself with a hearty meal and a cool refreshment in the small pub. Situated directly on the Rheinsteig trail, we also cater for the needs and wishes of hikers: snack plates, hiking provisions and much more invite you to take a break, or would you prefer a piece of apple or curd cheese strudel and a freshly brewed cup of coffee? it goes without saying that we also attach great importance to quality and regionality here, and we look forward to your visit!
