Before it was re-established, Filsen was the independent parish of St. Margaretha, which formed a pastoral area with its neighbours Osterspai and Kamp-Bornhofen. A special feature of Filsen is the parish hall, which is used jointly with the civil parish and also houses a small Catholic public library (KÖB).
