Long-necked Song:

Where our children play cheerfully
and the youth meets at night,
the old folks enjoy a chat,
the stranger takes a break,

in the heart of our little village
by the castle garden with its vines
three mighty columns of basalt
reach up here towards the sky.

There sits a little man at the top,
stretching his neck long into the world,
curiously looking into all lands
and sees a village that he likes.

From up here on the well
he observes everything wisely:
the fair, village festival, carnival,
Martinimarkt and torch parade.

But far beyond Osterspai
he is known in town and country
and is affectionately called by all who see him,
"Osterspaier Long Neck."

The Kämper drink from their well,
in Koblenz, the Schängel spits,
in Osterspai we have the Long Neck,
who joyfully looks into life.
