Le Pouce - The thumb César
Esther-Bejarano-Straße 1, 56068 Koblenz
César Baldaccini (1921-1998) was a French object artist and sculptor, who today is primarily associated with the Nouveau Réalisme movement of the 1960s.
One of his preferred materials was metal, which he used to create figurative forms. One of his best-known works is "Le Pouce", a 12-metre-high reproduction of his thumb, which was installed in the La Défense district of Paris in 1994 but dates back to a Rodin-Picasso exhibition in 1965.... Other reproductions have been placed around the world, including Seoul and Jeddah.
