The car ferry, named after the Siebengebirge low mountain range towering above the Rhine valley, crosses the Rhine at approximately river kilometre 640 from the left bank at Rolandseck (a district of the town of Remagen) to the right bank at the Lohfeld district of Bad Honnef (town in the Rhein-Sieg district) - it thus also connects the two federal states of Rhineland-Palatinate and North Rhine-Westphalia.
