Römerkastell Niederbieber
Auf der Alten Burg, 56567 Neuwied-Niederbieber
One of the largest Roman forts on the Upper Germanic Limes, built around 190 AD and destroyed when the Franks advanced over the Limes around 259/260 AD, was located in the area between the old and the new cemetery. In spite of later construction work on the site, the foundation walls of the huge Roman bath are now secure and give an impression of the imposing complex.
