St. Mary's Church
Ludwig-Glaser-Strasse, 65385 Rüdesheim-Aulhausen
Welcome
The Rhine Valley between Koblenz and Rüdesheim is a must-visit, as it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. If you have ever been there and missed the entrance on your way from Rüdesheim to the Niederwalddenkmal, you will end up in Aulhausen, situated in a small valley, where you will find the old Cistercian convent of Marienhausen in the midst of it.
This convent, along with the Marien Church, has become a unique cultural and spiritual attraction.
On the edge of the large complex of the St. Vicenz Foundation lies the Marien Church, part of the old monastery complex, which was consecrated in 1219. This church has been, since its opening in January 2016, the first and only church in the world designed by artists with disabilities. Unusual artworks by extraordinary people now surround worship, prayer, and song.
Anyone entering the ancient church will be drawn into the possibly different worldview of these individuals. They have translated the ancient Christian message into extraordinary artworks, making it tangible for their world and ours. If you are willing to engage with this, you will begin to see your world with new and different eyes...

You are warmly invited to visit!
