The Rheingau region is one of Germany's best-known winemaking areas and is also our home. We are a comparatively young winery, currently managed by Thomas Mehrlein in the family's third generation, and our activities are embedded in the traditions of the region. owever, at the same time, we are dedicated to carrying these traditions forward intp the present day, working qith state-of-the-art technology and knowledge withour losing sight of the essential.

The Rheingau has its "roots" in Riesling, and this is also the grape variety that we know best. It accounts for 98% of our production and is our undisputed number one. The soils of our south-facing vineyards are high in mineral contetn, and comprises Taunus quartzite and loam, as well as gravel and sand deposits from the pre-historic Rhine river valley. This offers perfect conditions for Riesling grapes and gives us a wonderfully wide variety of wines - delicate wines with subtle, mineral nose on up to full-bodied, supple wines.

What we stand for

Our family has long-standing roots in the Rheingau region. Under Thorsten Mehrlein's management, the winery has grown from very humble origins to become the seventh largest and, at the same time, one of the most dynamic wineries in the region, and our growth has been purely internal. A straightforward approach, trust and honesty are values that are of key importance to our family. They are also our winery's values. We have our feet firmly plated on the ground, which is reflected in the authenticity of our wines. Our aim for our relatively young winery is to embrace the long traditions of our local region, our values and our understanding of our wines and to interpret these in a contemporary manner.

Our wines

Our wines are like us: straightforward, clear, succulent and fresh. They range from light, uncomplicated wines which are simply a pleasure to drink, to full-bodied, top-of-the-line wines which show the full potential that their respective vineyard location has to offer. A key factor for us is to offer our wines at fair prices, thus guaranteeing the perfect ration of price to pleasure.

Our competence

The foundations for our competence are simple: a focus on the traditional Rheingau grape variety, Riesling, and the experience that three generations of our family have gathered, paired with Thorsten Mehrlein's well-founded education. The fact that we care for our vineyards ourselves and see our wines every day allows us to react individually to our vineyards' needs. In the cellar, we understand how crucial a focus on cleanliness is and that every signle task we perform or desicion we make will influence the quality of our wine - and that governs our daily work.
