"Our Souls at Night" - based on the novel by Kent Haruf - is a moving, credibly embodied dialogue between two lonely individuals and the ways they seek and find to escape their isolation, defying all societal conventions. Barbara Auer, born in 1959 in Constance, and Walter Sittler, born in 1952 in Chicago, are among the most renowned, award-winning actors in the German-speaking world. It is all the more surprising that they have never before shared the stage or collaborated in a TV production. When you see the two of them, one must come to the conclusion that they have always done nothing else but understand and complement each other so congenially through words, gestures, and facial expressions, as if it had never been imaginable otherwise.
